Thousand Guineas features in Japan

The JBS Australia Thousand Guineas Shorthorn Branded Beef program continues to break new ground in the Australian high end food service market, however the product is also gaining traction within Japan.
Thousand Guineas recently featured in the monthly Safari magazine, a popular Japanese fashion and trend magazine targeted towards 20 to 40 year old men who see themselves as trend leaders.
The magazine featured an article with the theme Lean beef vs Wagyu beef . Thousand Guineas Shorthorn beef was featured in a famous Italian restaurant called “Buca Junta” and was recommended as a top item on the menu.
Pronounced as “Tankakugyu”, which means Tan (Short) Kaku (Horn)  Gyu (Beef), Japanese Shorthorn beef is traditionally seen as ‘lightly marbled’ compared to the black coated wagyu.
However, the Shorthorn branding appeals to restaurants that are promoting healthy menus.
