NEW SHORTHORN GENOTYPES ADDED

When this week’s IGS Production EPD’s are loaded for the evaluation run 51220, some breeders may notice a shift in the EPD values for SOME animals in their herds.

The reason for this shift is that 349 Shorthorn Beef animals, with 50K genotypes which were collected over the last few months, have now had their genomic information uploaded into the IGS single step evaluation.

IGS has an automated pipeline for genomic testing to enter the evaluation, however that pipeline uses the Genomic ID (or barcodes) for each genotype and the animals ICAR number, not the animals ident. In the case of historic genotypes, it has required some work to cross reference the two.

Currently there are a total of 6,000 genotyped Shorthorn animals in the IGS analysis, with more genotypes added each month.

In the future, genomics will enter the IGS system automatically and the CGen software will display a symbol for those animals to show that they have genomically enhanced EPD’s.

Until then, here are list of all the Shorthorn Beef animals with Genomically Enhanced EPD’s.

This is a list of those Shorthorn Beef animals with genotypes added to this week’s IGS run.
