Quality Females Make Total Clearance

The Dectomax National Shorthorn Show and Sale entered it’s 60th year this year with one of the finest lineups of Shorthorn cattle that many have seen at the long running event.

The quality of females on offer certainly created interested from attending buyers and AuctionsPlus.

Following on from the bull judging, 13 outstanding Shorthorn females were offered for sale. Interest in the females was high, with all 13 lots selling for a total clearance, a top price of $7,000 and an excellent average of $4,462.

Sale topper was Marrington Effie N8, a 27 month old roan female with a heifer calf at foot. Purchased by Ben & Vicki Kell, Moonthalie Shorthorns, Tumut, Marrington Effie N8 is an Outback Sprys Genesis daughter and a full sister to Marrington Hot Shot, who had sold privately to Moombi Shorthorns for $18,000.

Warraberry Shorthorns offered two heifers, with their highest priced heifer, Warraberry Trita P196 selling to Eden Park, Tamworth for $6,500. Warraberry Trita P115 sold for $6,000 to a bidder on AuctionsPlus.

In total, 6 heifers were sold through AuctionsPlus this year.

The Dectomax National Shorthorn Show & Sale was raising funds to support the McGrath Foundation with the proceeds from the sale of two heifers kindly donated by vendors.

Moombi Kate P76, sired by Blackjack The Strip, was offered by Lester and Sonya Job, Moombi Shorthorns and sold for $3500 to Marie Barnes, Eldervale Shorthorns, Cudal.

Ronelle Park Miss America P40, sired by Southern Cross Lonestar and offered by Ross and Janelle Johnstone, Ronelle Park Shorthorns, Lyndhurst, was purchased by a buyer through AuctionsPlus for $3,000. This meant a total of $6,500 was generously donated to the McGrath Foundation.
