Shorthorns win Junior and Senior Champion Heifer all Breeds

Thirteen Shorthorn competitors were amongst the  150  entrants from South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia, aged from eight to twenty four years who attended the 2021 SA All Breeds Junior Heifer Expo at the Adelaide Showground in July over four days.

Due to Covid regulations numbers were restricted and excluded competitors from New South Wales and Queensland.

Fourteen beef breeds were represented.

A full educational  program  was held on Day 1 with leading industry speakers sharing their knowledge on topics including Red Meat, online selling, marketing,  and social media platforms.

The following day heifers and steers were judged by Ben Davies from Thomas Foods International and Lewis Bruggemann his associate, a past champion  herdsperson.

Eleven outstanding  Shorthorn heifers and two steers gained three firsts, two seconds, three thirds and two merit awards.

The Junior Champion heifer, a Shorthorn, was  awarded to Windsor Roxanne R 20.

The Senior Champion heifer, also a  Shorthorn, was awarded to Roly Park Radiance.

The final day was handler judging by Josh Wiltshire a past champion herdsperson.

Shorthorn handlers gained one first, two seconds, two thirds and two merit awards.

Congratulations to Claudia Kennedy winning the Intermediate Junior Judging Competition.
